A. Charles KogutA. Charles Kogut – Attorney and Founder
A. Charles Kogut is a 1974 graduate from the University of Illinois and earned his Juris Doctor from the John Marshall Law School in 1978. Mr. Kogut  has devoted his practice to the area of probate and trust litigation for over 30 years and has handled numerous will and trust contests, citation proceedings to recover assets into estates, actions for breach of contract to make a will, lost will cases, heirship matters and numerous issues that arise in probate cases, as well as general administration of decedent’s estates.

James K. Kogut – Associate
James K. Kogut is a graduate of the University of Illinois (1979) and the John Marshall Law School (1983). Mr. Kogut was a former Cook County Felony Prosecutor handling numerous felony jury trials during his stay in that office. Since 1988, he has been in private practice doing civil and criminal trial work. Mr. Kogut was recruited by the American Bar Association / Central European and Eurasian Law Initiative Program to train attorneys in trial techniques in the Middle East country of Azerbaijan and by the Department of Justice to train attorneys in trial techniques in the African country of Uganda. Mr. Kogut’s primary focus now is in the criminal field handling many high profile criminal cases. He is available to handle any matter from routine traffic to murder cases.


Daniel W. Kaminski – Associate
Daniel concentrates his practice in the areas of trust and probate litigation, estate and trust administration, and fiduciary defense litigation. While working at Kogut & Associates, Daniel has handled a wide variety of contested estate and trust issues, including representing Executors and Trustees in defending against will and trust contests. Daniel has also defended and prosecuted citation proceedings that seek to recover misappropriated assets into a decedent’s estate. Additionally, Daniel has been appointed by the probate court to act as a Special Administrator to assist in the administration of decedents’ estates.

Daniel earned his Juris Doctor from Chicago-Kent College of Law, where he graduated Cum Laude. During law school, Daniel served as a judicial extern for both the Honorable Samuel Der-Yeghiayan of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois and the Honorable Elizabeth Budzinski of the Circuit Court of Cook County. Prior to law school, Daniel graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Legal Studies, graduating with Distinction.


Stacy KogutStacy B. Kogut – Associate
Stacy B. Kogut practices in the areas of estate administration and trust and probate litigation, with a focus on issues involving heirship in decedent’s estates. Ms. Kogut earned her Juris Doctor from the John Marshall Law School, where she graduated Cum Laude, and also studied international law through the American University Washington College of Law in London, Paris, Brussels and Geneva. Ms. Kogut earned her Bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Illinois, graduating with honors.


Ryan McGuireRyan M. McGuire – Associate
Ryan M. McGuire practices in the areas of estate and trust administration, trust and probate litigation, and fiduciary defense litigation. Born and raised in the Chicagoland area, Ryan earned his Juris Doctor from Chicago-Kent College of Law in 2019. During law school, Ryan was a law clerk for a small personal injury firm, as well as a mid-sized insurance defense firm. After graduating from law school, and before joining Kogut & Associates, Ryan worked as an in-house probate associate for a high-volume personal injury firm. Prior to law school, Ryan earned his Bachelor’s degree in Statistics and Economics from the University of Illinois.
